It’s not often that news of ships and reefs together are a good thing but one ship,*Rio Tinto’s bauxite carrier,* is to be kitted out to help work out the best management plans for the reef. The ship will make regular trips between Gladstone and Weipa and it will have its own laboratory and sensors on board so CSIRO researchers can monitor the oceans chemistry.
